The first thing the kids saw when they put on the VR goggles was the shrinking machine and the hospital room.
This way, it felt just like they were being shrunk down and teleported inside the snow globe.

When the kids looked up inside the VR snow globe, they could see the shrinking machine towers and hints of the hospital room ceiling,
which made it feel even more like they were actually inside the real snow globe.

After the experience, each kid got a surprise:
they received a real version of the snow man they created inside the VR world.

Here’s the 360 video. However, it’s hard to do the experience justice without seeing it in actual VR.
Creative Development
My original sketch of the shrinking machine, which was then modeled in 3D space and built IRL in the hospital. It had to be modular and easy to take apart with a minimal footprint so as not to get in the way of hospital operations. The physical shapes were painstakingly rebuilt within the digital experience. You can see them behind the glass dome, tethering the viewer to the space and adding to the shrinking feeling the children experienced.
